Question by : Question about reawakening tinnitus, ear health, and loudness?
Had a slight case of tinnitus from firing a gun, after awhile it was fading away to almost nothing.
Went to a birthday party. Two speakers were set up, and they were loud. After 10-15mins, I had to get away from them, and did. Through the night I walked by them though, and found myself near them for another 10-15 mins.
They turned down the music after a couple hours. I was there for four hours, but found myself making it a point to stay as far away from the speakers as possible, or found myself even inside.
Main point: Even after avoiding the loud music, I was still exposed to it for short periods, no more than probably 15mins max at a time.
Even then, the next day my ears felt “full”, and there was a slight “whooshing” sound that I could hear if I plugged my ears tight. I even noticed the tinnitus in my right ear was not fading, but coming back.
My ear even ached a little bit afterwards even though I made it a point to avoid the music.
My question is:
Based on the story, do you think any damage has been done? If so is the kind that will heal itself?
My tinnitus was fading really well, and made a point to stay away from loud sounds since until that night. Will that one night thwart the progress of the tinnitus fading?
I know it’s all cumulative, but nerves can grow back, so can the ear repair itself from this sort of experience?
Also, I didn’t know there was going to be music, but I really make it a point to avoid loud noises, and only exposed myself to the loud music because I went up to say hi to a friend, but then had to get away…I was kinda pissed at myself for even going near the loud noise, I think next time I’ll just hold my ground in such a situation and stay away all together>>I”VE learned my lesson!
