Question by Laughing with you not at you: Babysitting and Liability Insurance?
I babysit two children for a family and I babysit them in their home. I am taking on another child and I am babysitting this new child in this other family’s home. I was told I would need to get some type of insurance. What type do I need and how much do you think it might cost? If someone has gone through this, let me know what has happened to you or how you went about doing it.
I live in Ohio.

Most people who babysit in their homes carry a million dollar liability policy. You can get it through your home owner’s insurance agent/company. Talk to your agent about it.
EDIT: If you are conducting your business in another person’s home, then talk to your insurance agent (surely you have car insurance or something) about the situation and get some sort of business insurance coverage to protect yourself. The children’s parents’ homeowner’s policy should cover you if you are hurt in their home. But you need coverage for your services/business and any allegations that could be made against you or any accidents or harm you may cause the child or the home.
